a Place for You

Mothers of Preschoolers, exists to meet the needs of every mom - urban, suburban, and rural moms, stay-at-home and working moms, teen, single, and married moms - moms with different lifestyles who all share a similar desire to be the very best moms they can be! MOPS recognizes that the years from infancy to kindergarten are foundational in a mother-child relationship and are filled with unique needs.

How MOPS began
Eight women. The number was small, but the need was great. The first MOPS meeting took place in February 1973 in Wheat Ridge, Colorado.  For two hours, while their children received care, these mothers talked, laughed, ate, passed a basket for childcare expenses, had a craft demonstration and ended with a short devotional. In this humble beginning, the seeds of the MOPS concept and format were planted. Through friendship, creative outlets, and instruction, the women began to understand that "mothering matters." Today, the same needs for significance are met in much the same way in MOPS groups across the United States and around the world.

FUMC MOPS
Our local MOPS group is not unlike that first group that met in 1973.  Moms come together to share breakfast, laughter, support, a speaker or activity and a short devotion.  Our meetings and other events are a time for moms to come together to share with one another while their children are being cared for.  In addition, other montly activitys are planned such as Kids Day Out and Moms Night Out.  Participating in these activites can enhance the MOPS experience and continue to build relationships between the other mothers and children in our group.

Membership to MOPS provides a subscription to MomSense Magazine (bi-monthly publication), a weekly email providing encouragement to mothers, membership access to the MOPS International website with ideas for mom/child activities, special offers, etc. and this year members will receive the theme book, The Mommy Diaries:  Finding Yourself in the Daily Adventure

Quality Childcare is provided for children (ages infant- kindergarten) through our MOPPETS Ministry.
A preschool-like program with a spiritual emphasis is offered for children three, four and five years old.
